Living the Call Together in the Caribbean: The Dominican Republic

A Ministry of The Alliance

Personal Stories

I wanted to take one more opportunity to tell you what a memorable time I spent in Santo Domingo! God answered all the prayers I prayed in preparation for the trip. I prayed that God would show me that there was much more of life ahead. He showed me through you that there were many more adventures ahead if I only let God lead, and if I would live outside my comfort zone. God showed me that even in the things that seem common place that He could work in great ways. I learned again that we “need” very little to be content – we just think we need more. I needed to hear the burdens of others to help put perspective on my own needs. I needed to see others as God sees them, in order to not pass quick judgment. I needed to see that there are so many lost and lonely people, and that God loves them as much as he loves me. I needed to learn that I do not need to have the answers to all of life’s questions.

I’m glad to be at home, but I find myself looking eagerly forward to another chance to serve in such a manner. Maybe God will never call me to do that again (I hope He does!) but I want to be willing to be used as He wants to use me. I have hung your picture next to my desk as an encouragement to me at work, that we are partners in preaching the gospel. Once again thank you for what you do. You do it well, and you do it for the glory of God.
