The Bottom Line

What is God doing in your life? Is God calling you to full-time service? Or do you want to experience missions first hand by participating in a short-term mission trip? Perhaps God is calling you to a new adventure. We have found over the years that a few questions can sometimes help to bring clarity.

One of the first questions that potential work team members ask is, “What’s the bottom line?”, “What is it going to cost?” We want to provide you with the information necessary to answer that question.

Let’s start by recognizing that “work team projects” are not cheap. It costs money to travel internationally. All buildings cost money. There are expenses in feeding, housing, and transporting any group of people. The fact that the building is in a “third world country” and the people involved are Christians, does not change the financial realities of our world. Materials must be purchased and basic equipment maintained. If you are considering your trip as a “gift” to missions it may be more expensive than you first dreamed.

Work team projects are much more than gifts and money. They are investments. We think of education as an investment for our future or the future of our children. We are willing to pay quite a bit for a good education. A work team project is an investment for the future of the Kingdom of God. God keeps good records of all investments. Work team projects are investments for the future of the national church that will keep winning people for Christ long after you’ve returned home. Work team projects are also investments for the future of those who participate in the project. Work team members experience missions first hand. In these ways, a work team project is a life-changing Kingdom investment.
